The Murphy Family established this scholarship to help students realize their educational and career goals in this world of rapidly evolving technology. Education and hard work enabled the Murphy Family to move from the stockroom of a local grocery store to making a difference in board rooms, courtrooms, and hospital rooms across the country. This scholarship is intended to assist in some small way those students working hard to make this same transformation in their lives, families, and communities.

Brendan, Cindy, Brendan, Sarah, Therese (3), James (1), Kevin and Elizabeth Murphy, and Kaitlyn and Alan Kwan make up the Murphy Family. The Murphy Family experienced firsthand the power of a strong public education to improve the trajectory of one’s life. They are committed to ensuring that the next generation has the same access to the opportunities they enjoyed. The Murphy Family originally hails from New York and came South just as soon as possible to raise their family. Brendan and Cindy make their home year round in Gulf County on Cape San Blas. Brendan, Sarah, Therese, and James live in Marietta, Georgia where Sarah is a Clinical Pharmacist with Northside Hospital and Brendan is a Senior Assistant District Attorney. Kevin and Elizabeth practice law in Charlotte, North Carolina where Elizabeth is a real estate finance attorney with Alston & Bird LLP and Kevin litigates all manner of employment disputes with Littler Mendelson, P.C. Kaitlyn and Alan make their home in Roswell, Georgia and work in the pharmaceutical industry where Kaitlyn supervises sales representatives and Alan manages product development and marketing. Kaitlyn and Alan are expecting the newest addition to the family in January 2016!
